Wildfires in SE US 2016

Panorama from Mt. Pisgah (left) to Pinnacle Mtn. (right) - approx. 135 degrees
In the fall of 2016 exceptionally dry weather has led to the spread of multiple large wildfires in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee. From the heights of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Graveyard Fields you can see the fires on the distant horizon more than 20 miles away.
From Mt. Hardy at milepost 425 on the Blue Ridge Parkway you can look west/southwest and see the smoke rising from wildfires in far western North Carolina and north Georgia.
From the Courthouse Valley Overlook (milepost 423) you can see the fire burning at Pinnacle Mtn. South Carolina near Tab;e ROck and the Mountain Bridges Wilderness Area. Here you see the smoke just rising up and over the escarpment and moving north into North Carolina
Taken about 90 minutes later from near the summit of Mt. Hardy it seems the fire has grown and the smoke is starting to move up and over the escarpment and into North Carolina
This picture was taken from the Black Balsam Knob Rd about 90 minutes later than the one above. With a zoom lens you can clearly see the smoke come over the escarpment and is moving into the valleys of southernTransylvania county in North Carolina
Thanksgiving Sunset at the Caesars Head Tstae Park overlook on Hwy. 276 in Pickens County, SC. Pinnacle Mtn is directly in line with the setting sun. Over 10,000 acres have burned at Pinnacle Mtn. in one of the biggest fires in the region.
